During lunch today we had this entertaining conversation;
Jack; 'Daddy, what does sagrifice mean?'
M; 'Sacrifice. It means killing something in honour of some god or other'
Lucy; 'Have you ever sacrificed anyone then Daddy?'
M; 'No'
Lucy; 'Why not? What about J*, has he sacrificed anyone?'
M; 'No Lucy, we don't tend to sacrifice people any more, it happened a long time ago'
Lucy; 'So has Grandma done it then?'.......
Thank goodness for Horrible Histories!
*J is a random friend of M's. To be fair, if anyone was to perform a sacrifice
